Walk slowly and keep the whole room in view, including the ceiling. Move steadily along walls and around furniture. Very large spaces are best done one room or floor at a time.
The free app shows Wi-Fi as good, weak or dead by room. The one-off Detailed Wi-Fi unlock adds the full speed map, exactly where to move your router, and where a booster would help most. It is bought once and kept.
As you walk, the app times a small download from Cloudflare's public speed-test service to measure the real speed at each spot. It is the only feature that needs an internet connection.
